New Central PF Commissioner takes charge

Consequent to appointment as Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC), Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) vide Order No 3/4/2010-EO(SM-I) dated 19.03.10 of Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Shri. Samirendra Chatterjee has taken charge as CPFC today the 25th March 2010.  Prior to this he was Member Secretary, National Commission for Women, New Delhi.

Shri. Samirendra Chatterjee is a 1976 batch IAS officer, of Assam cadre. He has held various important assignments in the Assam and Meghalaya State Government as Secretary in the Dept. of Industry, International Trade, Finance, Rural Development Transport, Social Welfare at the level of Joint Secretary, Commissioner, Secretary and as Additional Chief Secretary. He was also the Chief Executive of several PSUs of the State Government.

He has served in the Govt. of India at various levels from Under Secretary to Joint Secretary in the Ministries of Industry, Commerce, Labour, Tribal Affairs and has also worked as Member in NHAI.

In between, on study leave, Mr. Chatterjee did M.A. and M. Phil. in economics from Boston University and later on taught Managerial Economics to MBA students in the same University for two years.
